This Instant Pot Spaghetti and meat sauce is going to be one of your favorites go to dinners. Usually, the sauce would have to sit there and simmer for 30 minutes and with the Instant Pot this sauce and the noodles are all done in under 15 minutes. Isn't that crazy? Love my Instant Pot and Air Fryer.

Yo! I've been going through some of my old blog posts lately and seeing if there was any previous recipes that can be turned into Instant Pot recipes that will make your and my life easier. And guess what, there are so many recipes on my site. Like my mom's spaghetti and meat sauce recipe.

So I'm thinking about doing some kind of life update post on my site every month. Not sure what to call it and I don't drink coffee at all. I'll figure it out because I like to share to stuff with everyone other than food. I'll probably do that post maybe at the beginning of the new month but it would be for the last month so be looking for that!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Beef (96%) - can substitute ground turkey, Italian sausage, or ground chicken
  • ¼ cup chopped onion
  • 1 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 12 oz can tomato paste
  • 1 envelope Italian Mushroom spaghetti sauce mix
  • 3 cups water - can add beef broth or chicken broth for extra flavor
  • ½ tablespoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon oregano leaves
  • 1 clove garlic crushed
  • 1 bay leave crumbled.
  • 16 oz of uncooked whole-wheat spaghetti noodles, broken in half - can use whole wheat pasta
  • Optional toppings: parmesan cheese, freshly torn basil

Instructions

  1. Chop onion and cook it in your Instant Pot on Saute mode with the ground beef until it has cooked through. About 5-7 minutes. Once the ground beef is done browning, add in the rest of the ingredients to the Instant Pot and the uncooked spaghetti. Break that in half. Set your Instant Pot to Pressure cook, set the steam valve to sealing and the timer to 10 minutes.
  2. Let the Instant Pot release the steam on its own or release it yourself. Stir the noodles and sauce around and enjoy.
  3. Serving size: 1 cup

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I serve this with?

Serve this instant pot spaghetti with some freshly baked garlic bread or breadsticks. Add some fresh green beans or cooked carrots for a side.

Other seasonings to try?

Instead of using the seasonings mentioned above try this Italian seasoning and add a lot of garlic powder and onion powder to the dish. Red pepper flakes for some heat. You can also use a jar of marinara sauce instead of tomato sauce.

How to store leftovers:Always store leftovers in clean, food-grade containers. The type of container doesn’t really matter. Use zip lock, glass, plastic, whatever! Make sure to store any leftovers in an airtight container before putting it in the freezer or fridge.

This can be prepped the day ahead.

  1. Jenna says

I used 16 oz of cooked whole- wheat spaghetti to make it 5 points. Sorry for any confusion but I will update my recipe to say whole wehat.

  2. Heidi says

This is a GREAT recipe, however, I'm not sure if I'm making a mistake, but the noodles alone would be 48 pts (on blue) which would make that itself 8pts for 1/6. You have it as 5pts (on blue) for 1/6. Am I missing something?
